RN CLINICAL QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST - ADULT TRAUMA PROGRAM','OTH01Q09','!*!CLINICAL QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST needed for Adult Trauma Program UNC is a Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center which serves as the primary referral center for the Mid Carolina Regional Advisory Committee. The Tar Heel Trauma Program is responsible for maintaining Trauma Center designation and ensures optimal trauma care is delivered. The Clinical Quality Assurance Specialist (also known as the Adult Trauma Process Improvement Coordinator) is responsible for the execution of the Process Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) Program. The goal of the PIPS plan is to establish an integrated, concurrent, system-oriented, multi-disciplinary internal performance improvement plan aimed at eliminating preventable trauma-related morbidity and mortality by ensuring optimal outcomes and continuous improvement in care at UNC Hospitals. The overarching strategy of the PIPS program is to monitor and continually improve structures, process and outcomes. This will be achieved through the following objectives and underpinned by active stakeholder engagement, concurrent problem identification, data-driven and solutions-focused approaches and cultivating a culture of safety. Specific tasks include the following: • Concurrently identify complications, adverse outcomes and process issues • Facilitate event identification, validation, analysis, and determination through multi-disciplinary peer review • Use institutionally accepted quality improvement strategies to develop and implement evidence-based guidelines and policies • Provide relevant and timely feedback and outcomes to providers, referring facilities, transport teams • To function as an integral component of quality initiatives across the continuum of care to include UNC Hospitals, referring hospitals and EMS agencies • Promote a culture of safety and effective teamwork, communication and leadership • Participate in Regional and State Trauma Advisory Committees • Engage in trauma-related research The position may also assist with trauma education to include the following courses: • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) • Advanced Surgical Skills for Exposure in Trauma (ASSET) • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) • May Day Trauma Conference This a 40 hour per week day position with great benefits! ','!*!Requires Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from a state-accredited school of professional nursing and three (3) years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
