Job Summary
The Claims Supervisor supervises a team of claims adjusters and is responsible for the projects assigned to the group. He/She liaises with a vendor, UPS, and UPS Capital (UPSC) to ensure claims and damages are handled properly.
The Claims Supervisor holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals. He/She determines solutions to claims and damages exceptions and legal issues to resolve escalated requests. This position mediates claims to provide acceptable resolution for UPS and customers while following UPS Tariff and U.S. law. The Claims Supervisor conducts performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement.
Other Duties
Provides training and delivers presentations to educate vendors and internal UPS personal on the claims process and UPSC products.
Supervises on-site technicians to maximize technology system, tool, and resource usage.
Locates and lists a random sampling of claims and damages notifications to review and grade for completeness and accuracy.
Facilitates building and property needs to ensure vendor safety and maximize productivity.
Determines employees’ training needs to produce continuous development plans.
Provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance.

Assesses Business Needs: Demonstrates a general understanding of ways to identify and measure the current needs of the customer or business; uses the business need to help define the project’s requirements.
Vendor/Supplier Management: Demonstrates a broad understanding of UPS and vendor business needs and goals; reviews and recommends appropriate vendors based on business needs to internal stakeholders; provides input into the creation of vendor contracts or agreements; communicates expectations to vendors.
Technology Knowledge: Recognizes the basic impact of technology on UPS business, services, and processes; identifies technological barriers in achieving desired objectives; maintains appropriate breadth and depth of technological knowledge for current work assignment.
Finance Knowledge: Demonstrates an understanding of basic financial terminology and concepts such as cash flows, operating profit/loss, and net income; conducts financial analyses.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred
