General Information
The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. operates airports, business parks, and marine terminals that transport passengers and cargo to regional, national and international markets.
The Electrical Inspector is responsible for providing electrical, technical and inspection services for construction projects at a variety of facilities owned by the Port. This includes enforcement of work efforts in accordance with drawings, specifications, relevant codes, and contract terms. This role will also provide technical and practical electrical expertise and advice to the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.'s Design Services Department. Responsibilities also include the establishment of a healthy relationship between the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and the construction contractor, assuring that it is maintained with high standards of ethics and integrity.
This position is part of a larger team and will be one of many inspectors with different experiences and areas of focus. The successful candidate will be team-oriented with a solid understanding of electrical principles and construction methods and techniques, be highly collaborative, have a drive for results, and embrace the value and importance of service.
The Port continues to invest in its portfolio of construction projects to aid in the improvement of its transportation, industrial, and support facilities. This portfolio is designed to expand, upgrade, and modernize facilities to meet Port standards, values, goals, and objectives. * This position is classified as FLSA non-exempt which means it is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of a 40-hour work week
Summary of Essential Responsibilities
Perform on-site inspection of electrical work and assist with non-electrical inspection as needed:
Inspect materials, installation, and layout; notify contractor of unacceptable material or work;
Suspend work with Construction Manager's approval;
Act as liaison between Construction Manager, Operations, tenant, Port safety, Port environmental and contractor during construction;
Perform or supervise quality control electrical testing.
Maintain thorough and accurate records:
Keep daily diary for each job assigned;
Provide input for monthly construction progress report;
Verify quantities of work for contractor's monthly pay estimate;
Keep as-built drawings up to date;
Verify proper licensing and registration of electrical contractors.
Provide interdepartmental support:
Provide assistance to engineers for in-house design work;
Review projects prior to bid for constructability and economics of design;
Coordinate interdepartmental projects requiring involvement of Port maintenance personnel.
Minimum Requirements/Skills and Abilities
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Associate's degree or a combination of course work and experience in or an electrical related field is required.
Minimum of five (5) years experience as an electrical inspector, which includes inspection of special equipment and machinery that has not been listed or labeled by a testing laboratory.
Practical experience in commercial and industrial building construction methods, industrial electrical equipment, machinery, and related code requirements is required.
Working knowledge of General construction practices and electrical design is required.
Advanced knowledge of the following:
Electrical construction, terminology, standards and practices
Demonstrated knowledge of city, state, and national electric codes
Oregon General Journeyman license at time of application is preferred; or the ability to obtain a reciprocal license by time of hire is required. NOTE:
State of Oregon may grant reciprocity to eligible Journeyman from these six states: Arkansas, Idaho, Maine, Montana, Utah or Wyoming.
Oregon State A Level Electrical Inspectors Certification at time of hire is preferred; or the ability to become certified within two years of hire date is required.
Valid driver's license at time of hire is required.
Must be able to pass a criminal history background check for purposes of obtaining and maintaining eligibility for unescorted access to secure areas of Port facilities.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Full proficiency with current Microsoft Office suite for purposes of producing written documents. Experience with Blue Beam is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an environment of multiplicity of concurrent activities.
Willingness to promotes safety as a guiding principle and a regular practice in accomplishing work; focuses on safety improvements and complies with safety and health policies and procedures.
Proven team player who shows the utmost respect for others.
Ability to:
Work outdoors in year-round weather conditions and negotiate all types of terrain.
Work with minimal supervision and make sound decisions in the absence of specific direction.

Work at heights and in confined spaces, and perform moderate lifting in the form of test equipment, and occasionally manhole lids.
Work beyond regularly scheduled hours including evenings and weekends to accommodate assigned projects.
