Description
The Senior Quality Engineer carries out procedures to ensure that all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end-user requirements. The Senior Quality Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Responsibilities
The Senior Quality Engineer performs and leads tests of software to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects. May create test data for applications. Documents and works to resolve all complex problems. Reports progress on problem resolution to management. Devises improvements to current procedures and develops models of possible future configurations. Acts as information resource about assigned areas to technical writers. Performs complex work flow analysis and recommends quality improvements. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Perform and Lead Tests of Software.
Ensures proper software operation and freedom of defects
Assist with creation of deployment plan (including post implementation verification)
Coordinates System Integration Testing (SIT) and ensures success before moving to User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
Coordinate UAT and following up with testers as needed to ensure complete and accurate testing. Obtain approval from each business owner or delegate before declaring ready to deploy.
Provide system support and troubleshooting as needed.
Perform benefit and cost analysis for proposed solutions
Perform complex analysis of problems, processes and workflow
Solve complex problems, document details related to cause, impact and resolution
Evaluate existing applications and procedures for accuracy and efficiency
Recommend quality improvements
Modify existing procedures to improve efficiency
Develop models for improved configurations to consider for future use
Manage Test Strategy and Data
Assist with setting standards for testing including test plans and test cases
Assist with creating templates for test plans and test cases
Create application and process specific test plans and test cases
Use software tool to load and update test cases and manage execution of test plans
Assist with setting strategy for how to create and integrate test data
Create test and integrate data needed for effective testing of software applications
Required Qualifications
Our Department of Defense contract requires U.S. Citizenship
Successfully receive interim approval for government security clearance (eQIP - Electronic Questionnaire for Investigation Processing)
Bachelor's degree, technical area preferred or technical training equivalent
5 or more years of quality and testing experience working directly with an IT area
5 or more years of technical experience
Project Management Experience
Good oral and written communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Office or similar tools
Ability to work well in a team development setting
Experience with IT business analysis and artifact creation
Knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle, Waterfall, and Agile Development Methodologies
Experience problem solving and consultation within complex environments
Facilitating cross-functional teams' efforts
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
Healthcare industry experience
