Against that backdrop, we are seeking an accomplished technology leader to join our team as Director, Quality Engineering. Operating on an enterprise scale, this position will focus on software and infrastructure quality, and will own the end-to-end accountability for the ongoing quality development and delivery of IT products and services for these areas. This leader will establish the standards that will define what quality looks like, and will build the framework for managing quality on an ongoing basis. This position requires solid understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across department(s).

The Director, Quality Engineering will partner with Strategy & Innovation for strategic alignment of automated testing enablement. This role will lead testing collaboration between Business and IT, guiding test strategies and tools and assure adherence to quality standards.

The Director will manage a significant capital budget, and will lead a multi-level, geographically dispersed organization of 200 resources, comprised of both Humana associates and contractors. Although Louisville, KY would be the ideal location for this position to be based in, for strong candidates we are happy to consider other major cities.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with stakeholders for Domain Software Quality to implement:


Domain Level Quality Strategy & Roadmaps
Measure Performance on Quality Initiatives
Evangelize Best Practices & Process Adoption
Reduce Cross-Functional Barriers & Establish Business Collaboration


Improve Quality Operations while maintaining ongoing quality processes including:


Drive integration and self-service through automation tools and pipelines.
Run & Perform Maintenance for Non-Functional and automated testing
Run quality operations for metrics, controls and audits.
Identify Batch/Environment Improvements & run batch jobs


Manage and develop the talent on their team, including engagement, well-being, and IDP creation, refining, and execution, with the goal of building and maintaining a high-performing team.

Collaborate with senior leaders across Business and IT

Manage the budgets for their team (operating and subarea) and forecasting.

Define, track, and report delivery commitments, including description, date, and dependencies, to the project managers and other stakeholders

Remain current with industry and technology trends that impact their domain as well as the future direction of associated technologies

Key Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have extensive (typically 10 years) technical experience with a proven record of success in leading a large-scale software testing and quality program. This person will be a strong leader of people who has successfully expanded and elevated the capabilities and performance of the team. He/she should have a strong background in project management methodology, including schedule, scope, issue and risk management experience, change management, strategic planning and analysis. A Bachelor's degree is required, but a Master's degree would be a strong plus.

In addition to the above, the following technical qualifications and personal attributes are sought:


Current or recent experience leading software quality and testing efforts in a cloud environment
Track record of identifying, cultivating, and motivating talent. Proven ability to attract top talent from inside and outside of an organization to build high-performing teams.
Deep expertise in using analytics to inform strategic decisions and to improve operational performance.
Working knowledge of quality frameworks, tools and solutions.
Current or recent experience in a large, highly matrixed company (i.e., Fortune 250), with proven ability to influence leaders and key stakeholders in such an environment
Excellent oral and written communications skills at all organizational levels, including the ability to skillfully convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
The polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences
Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage many diverse stakeholders and SMEs and win their co-ownership in the outcome
In-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across segments and/or enterprise-wide.
Advanced IT knowledge providing subject matter expertise across critical components of business and technology domains (e.g. enterprise risk and compliance, data management and governance, information protection, applications, enterprise architecture, and quality)
